Last week, as I was getting ready to leave for my jewelry class, I heard some massive fluttering of wings followed by a large splash into my pool.
My first thought was that some poor bird from a nearby park, where coyotes and other large wild creatures call home, got injured and fell into my pool. I was ready to call a Wilderness Rescue or something. However, when I looked out the window to see what I had to rescue, I saw this:
I let them swim for a couple of hours before chasing them away. Next time, I don’t think I’ll be that nice. I haven’t had Peking Duck in a while and am really craving it. My dad said that he’d tell me how to cook Peking Duck next time these birds pay me a visit. 😉
Craving some duck, I looked up some recipes. I haven’t tried any of them, but from reading them, some are really sucky looking. One even called for lumpia wrappers! If you’ve had Peking Duck, it’s served with a seamed flat bun that is light and fluffy to contrast with the richness and crispy skin of the duck. This Taiwanese girl is not going to settle for lumpia wrappers to go with my duck! I could even live off the steamed bun by itself. Of the many recipes I looked up, this one is probably the closest and the best.
Later that same day, I was working at a local coffee shop located at a fairly busy intersection. When I looked up, I saw some students walking a herd of sheep on leashes!!! You sure don’t see that everyday!
Yummm, Peking Duck!
