This is a tutorial for the Mermaid pattern, a cabled neck warmer designed by Anne Kuo Lukito.

What happens to the unraveled stitch that is dropped, is it passed to the left or right needle, and if so, CO 2 sts would then create a total of 24 sts instead 22?
You will end up with 22 sts. When you drop the yarn over, you do not pick it back up, nor is it transferred to any of the needles — it is just left alone.
